ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced the launch of a new B-Form with enhanced security features for children aged 10 and above. Starting January 15, the new B-Form will be issued in phases.

For the first time, the B-Form will include the child’s photograph and fingerprints as mandatory components.

According to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, these updates aim to prevent the misuse of children’s identity information and combat issues such as fake ID cards, illegal passports, and human trafficking.

To apply for the new B-Form, a parent or legal guardian must accompany the child to a NADRA centre. Applicants are required to bring the child’s computerized birth certificate and the parent’s computerized identity card. Once the process is completed, the child will receive a B-Form that includes their photograph and biometric data.

The updated B-Form will also be mandatory for obtaining a new passport. Older versions without photographs and fingerprints will no longer be accepted.

Looking ahead, NADRA plans to implement additional security measures, including iris scans, at the union council level. The system will also be integrated with provincial Civil Registration Management Systems.

Furthermore, NADRA is working on enhancements for the Pak ID mobile app and intends to issue digital IDs to all Pakistani citizens in the near future.
