ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi today visited the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad to inquire about the health of security personnel injured during the recent PTI protests.
Mohsin Naqvi directed the health officials to provide the best medical treatment to the injured personnel of Rangers, FC, and police. He commended the high morale of the security personnel, state-run Radio Pakistan reported.
The federal minister also instructed authorities to immediately shift injured ASP Muhammad Aleem to Lahore for better medical treatment. ASP Muhammad Aleem was severely injured in the eye due to stone-pelting by miscreants and was admitted to PIMS Hospital.
Director General Rangers Punjab Major General Muhammad Aatif also accompanied the Interior Minister.
Earlier today, the Punjab police spokesperson confirmed that one police officer was martyred and 170 personnel injured during the violent clashes between PTI protestors and police in various districts of Punjab, mostly in Rawalpindi and Attock.
According to the spokesperson, multiple officers sustained severe injuries due to the violence and gunfire. Miscreants damaged 22 police vehicles and set a police van ablaze during the unrest.
Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, paid tribute to the martyrs and brave officers who risked their lives to protect the country’s internal borders. “We salute the sacrifices of our forces who stood steadfast in the face of violence,” he stated.
