QUETTA: The Pakistan Telecommunication (PTA) on Friday suspended mobile phone and internet service in some areas of Balochistan for security reasons.

PTA in a statement, said that the decision to suspend mobile phone and internet service temporarily has been taken to to ensure public safety

The areas affected by the suspension of mobile internet services include Gwadar, Kech, Awaran, Khuzdar, Kalat, Ziarat, Harnai, Duki, Loralai, Pishin, Qila Saifullah, Zhob, and Musakhel. Local authorities in these areas have also confirmed that internet services have been completely shut down without prior notice.

An official from the provincial government, while speaking to Urdu News said that the decision to suspend mobile internet services was made in light of the deteriorating law and order situation in the province. This suspension will remain in place indefinitely.

Most of the districts where internet services have been suspended have reported terrorist incidents in recent days.
