Journalist Matiullah Jan abducted from PIMS

ISLAMABAD: Senior journalist Matiullah Jan was reportedly abducted late last night from the parking area of Islamabad’s Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) hospital by unidentified individuals.

According to initial reports, Jan was accompanied by senior journalist Saqib Bashir at the time of the incident. Bashir was later released near the I-9 sector of Islamabad, while Jan remained in the custody of the abductors.

Bashir described the ordeal, stating that both men were forcibly taken away in a pickup-style vehicle with their faces covered. While Bashir was released, Matiullah Jan’s whereabouts remain unknown. Authorities have yet to comment on the incident, and no group has claimed responsibility for the abduction.
