ISLAMABAD: Islamabad’s Capital Development Authority (CDA) has taken significant action against the renowned Marriott Hotel, sealing part of the facility due to legal violations.

According to the CDA Building Control Team, the hotel lacks a completion certificate for its structure, posing potential risks to public safety. The team also reported that the hotel’s basement was being used illegally as a storage area, contrary to building regulations.

Additionally, the CDA identified an unauthorised marquee on the premises and highlighted that Marriott Hotel owes outstanding dues of Rs160 million. The authority further revealed that the hotel had unlawfully converted a greenbelt area into a parking lot.

Responding to the situation, senior officials from Marriott Hotel stated that all sections of the hotel remain operational for public use. However, CDA officials highlighted that the sealed portion will remain closed until the dues are cleared and compliance with legal requirements is ensured.
