LAHORE: Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, Malik Ahmad Khan, on Monday, speaking at an event, criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa(KP) Chief Minister (CM) Ali Amin Gandapur, saying that the CM of KP is attacking the federation with miscreants.

He further criticised Chairman PTI, Imran Khan, and said, “One person is holding the entire country hostage through one party.”

Malik Ahmad Khan said that the purpose of any political party or movement should be the welfare of the people. He urged the government to take action and stop Khan, who, he argued, should not just be blamed for a minor incident but for the events of May 9, which included attacks on the country, its military, and institutions.

He also condemned the actions of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Ali Amin Gandapur, for leading a group of protesters to attack the federal government.

Meanwhile, PTI’s protest entered its second day, continuing to disrupt routes between Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The protest caravan, led by Bushra Bibi and Ali Amin Gandapur, departed from Hazara Interchange on the M1 highway. Bushra Bibi’s car led the procession, despite facing challenges along the way. Gandapur, after facing tear-gassing at Hazara Interchange, paused for a break and food before resuming his journey.

The protest has sparked a heated political debate, with both sides of the aisle accusing each other of undermining the country’s institutions.
