The Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) has identified 23 bottled water brands as unsafe for human consumption due to microbiological or chemical contamination.
During the second quarter of 2024 (April to June), a total of 209 samples of bottled water were gathered from 21 cities. According to a press release, 23 of these brands were found to be unsafe for human consumption.
Four brands—Aqua Qismat, Vivo Water, Ruyaal Silver, and Smart—were deemed unsafe due to elevated sodium levels. Three brands—Still, Starlite Water, and Premium Safa Purified Water—were found unsafe because of excessive arsenic levels, surpassing permissible limits.

Furthermore, Smart Pure Life was identified as unsafe due to high potassium content.
Fifteen brands—Fijji, Asha Premium Drinking Water, Water Plus Premium Drinking Water, Neo Health Drinking Water, Cliff Water Healthy Drinking Water, Dream Pure, Samar Indus Drinking Water, Splash Water, Crystal Pure Life, Buxton, Kohinoor, BRO H2O, Oriel, Parwaz Water, and Masafi—were found to be contaminated with bacteria, making them unsafe for consumption.
PCRWR urged the public to consult the detailed report for information on the water quality status of the bottled water brands they consume.
