WEB DESK: The Lahore High Court has mandated the permanent sealing of shops found selling dead chickens in Tollington Market. Justice Shahid Karim issued a written order in connection with the ongoing smog case, highlighting concerns raised by the food authority’s report, which revealed that a significant number of dead chickens had been destroyed in the market.

According to Geo News, the court has instructed authorities to investigate and report on the disposal of the market’s waste. Additionally, there is a directive to assess the overall cleanliness of the market.

The court has also ordered the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) to submit a report on the maintenance of government parks, in coordination with local committees.

Earlier, the Punjab Food Authority cracked down on an operation involved in supplying dead chickens in Sharaqpur Sharif, Sheikhupura.

The operation, conducted along the Lahore-Gujranwala Road, resulted in the seizure of a vehicle loaded with dead chickens.

The vehicle was discovered to be transporting 800 kilograms of dead chickens. As a result, approximately three suspects were apprehended, and a case was filed against them.

The confiscated dead chicken were destroyed on-site in the presence of the attending officers.

In a similar incident few weeks ago, police in Sargodha seized 400 kilograms of dead chicken meat in the Kot Momin tehsil area.

The discovery was made when officers from the Hilalpur police post intercepted a rickshaw during routine checks. Upon inspection, they were alarmed to find the vehicle loaded with bags containing decomposed chicken meat
