Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has officially denied recent news reports claiming a ban on Green Electricity Meters.
In a statement released Wednesday, a LESCO spokesperson clarified that no decision has been made to prohibit the use of green meters. Instead, they emphasized that for consumer convenience, the company will issue NOCs (No Objection Certificates) for AMI meters (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) in place of green meters.

The spokesperson highlighted that the transition to AMI meters aims to address consumer concerns such as over-billing and to combat power theft effectively. This move is intended to streamline metering processes and enhance accuracy in billing.
Previously, various media outlets had incorrectly reported that LESCO had banned the use of green meters in solar systems. These reports also suggested that consumers would now be required to install AMI meters, which could potentially cost an additional Rs20,000 compared to green meters.
LESCO’s clarification seeks to assure consumers that there is no ban on green meters and that the shift towards AMI meters is aimed at improving service reliability and transparency in electricity consumption measurement.
