The air quality in Lahore has gotten worse today, making it one of the most polluted cities in the world. A global environmental website reports that Lahore’s Air Quality Index has reached 419, showing a dangerous level that raises health warnings and increases health risks for people in the city.
The increase in air pollution has also impacted visibility. Health specialists warn that this level of AQI is unsafe for people and can lead to serious health issues.
The Punjab government has taken several measures to tackle smog in the provincial capital, but the problem continues despite these efforts.
School timings in Lahore have been adjusted due to the poor Air Quality Index (AQI) and the approaching smog season.
The AQI measures the concentration of various pollutants in the air, including fine particulate matter (PM2.5), coarse particulate matter (PM10), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and ozone (O3). An AQI above 125 is considered “unhealthy,” while an AQI above 150 is classified as “very unhealthy.”

Smog has become a major problem for Punjab, especially Lahore, in recent years due to increasing air pollution. This year too, Lahore has been consistently ranked as the most polluted city in the world for the past three days, with the AQI level reaching over 400.
