LAHORE: The Lahore traffic police, fined a motorcycle rider worth Rs55,200 for at least 33 traffic violations.

The man was issued e-challans for different traffic violations, some of which were reported by city’s AI-powered enforcement system.

The violations for which he was fined include sign infringement, breaking signals, wrong lane crossing, and not wearing a helmet.

The most challans, at least 24, were issued for not wearing a helmet.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, Ammara Athar, has confirmed the hefty fine on the motorcyclist.

The AI system was introduced earlier this year in Lahore, to manage 19 types of traffic violations, issuing e-challans to those who break the rules.

The Lahore Traffic Police have established dedicated teams to target vehicles with outstanding violations as part of a citywide enforcement effort.

The violations include jumping signals, improper lane usage, and failing to wear seat belts or helmets.
