Lahore to have electric buses by December

Electric buses are set to start operating in Lahore in December after the Punjab Transport Authority successfully completed the tendering process.

A joint venture between a Chinese and a Pakistani company has been awarded the contract to manufacture these buses, Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan announced.

Moreover, the company will supply 27 electric buses for Rs 15.5 billion and will also install charging stations for them.

According to the minister, the buses will come with an eight-year battery warranty and a ten-year warranty for the bus body and other structural components.

Additionally, the company will offer free supervision and maintenance services for the first year.

Furthermore, the electric buses will be introduced on five routes, with the first phase starting from the Railway Station to Green Town Hamdard Chowk.
