LAHORE: The Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency (TEPA) has proposed installing new traffic signals in Lahore equipped with the latest technology.

The first traffic signal will be installed at Faisal Chowk (Charing Cross) and later be expanded to other city areas.

TEPA also plans to upgrade zebra crossings in Lahore to match those used in Europe.

The project’s initial cost is estimated at Rs28 million, and TEPA has already submitted the proposal.

Lahore’s traffic is a major concern, with rising urbanisation and population. Traffic is not only an issue for people with vehicles but also pedestrians.

The proposed zebra crossings and new signals equipped with the latest technology aim to help address this problem.
