LAHORE: Lahore police arrested a man who assaulted his ex-wife in a public market in Badami Bagh area of the provincial capital.
The victim contacted the 15 emergency helpline to report the incident.
According to a police spokesperson, the Virtual Women’s Police Station immediately dispatched officers to the scene and arrested the accused.
The woman had divorced the man two years prior, but he had continued to harass and threaten her even after the divorce.
In her complaint, the woman stated that she unexpectedly encountered her ex-husband in the market. He then started assaulting her due to an ongoing dispute and issued death threats.
Police acted swiftly, arresting the suspect based on the victim’s description. A case has been filed against him, and further legal proceedings are underway.
