The Lahore Sessions Court has reserved its decision on the bail application of prominent analyst and columnist Orya Maqbool Jan, who was detained by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in relation to a cybercrime case.

During the hearing, overseen by Judge Rafaqat Ali Qamar, Jan’s lawyer, Mian Ali Ashfaq, contended that the FIA’s case is based merely on assumptions, arguing that there is no concrete evidence or documentation to support the allegations and that no recovery is anticipated from Jan. Ashfaq requested the court to grant bail to Jan, while the FIA opposed the application.

Following the arguments from both sides, the court has reserved its decision. Previously, on August 31, the Lahore Sessions Court had issued a notice to the FIA regarding Jan’s bail application and requested the case records.
