PESHAWAR: As many as 636 terror attacks were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the first 11 months of 2024, a report compiled by police said.
The report, released by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), stated that KP witnessed 636 attacks reported so far this year, surpassing last year’s total of 631.
Around 275 people were killed and 460 others injured in these attacks.
The report further stated that the fatalities included 142 police personnel and 133 civilians. Out of 460 injured, 214 of them were policemen and the rest were civilians, it stated.
The attacks, carried out by banned organisations, included six suicide bombings, 113 IED blasts, and 355 instances of gunfire across various parts of the province during these 11 months.
In response, the CTD police conducted 2,981 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) and eliminated 246 terrorists. During these operations, 739 terrorists were also arrested, and 29 of whome were identified as high-profile targets, it added.
