PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa religious scholars and ulema expressed pride in Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir’s deep understanding of the holy Quran
General Asim Munir held a special session with university students from across Pakistan in which he referred to Quranic verses that terrorist groups spread chaos and destruction and that stern actions against them are justified.
Referring to Quranic verses, the Army Chief said that the activities of terrorist groups are not in accordance with Islamic teachings but rather a distortion of religion.
Ulema supported his arguments based on the Quran and Hadith against terrorism.
“We stand by the Army Chief and take pride in his knowledge,” scholars stated.
Maulvi Ahmed Shah, leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, expressed satisfaction with the Army Chief’s statement.
Mufti Hakeem Ali confirmed the Quranic reference to Khawarij was accurate.
Maulana Shah Nawaz declared full support for the Pakistan Army and its commander. He called General Asim Munir a Hafiz of the Quran and a talented leader.
Qari Afsar Khan, Deputy General Council member of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, affirmed their support for the Army and its chief.
Mufti Dr. Muhammad Zainul Abideen urged the younger generation to support the Army, noting the daily sacrifices of security forces.
Muhammad Wajid Farooqi backed the Army Chief’s stance against those spreading mischief in Pakistan.
Muhammad Israr Qureshi agreed that those who spread chaos are cursed by Allah and His Messenger.
Maulana Shoaib Shah and Mufti Muhammad Hanif fully supported General Asim Munir’s position, rejecting terrorism and rebellion.
General Syed Asim Munir in a special conversation with students, said that as long as the nation stands behind the army, the Pakistan Army will never lose.
The Army Chief stated, “We fight like comrades—that’s the beauty of the army. There is no Sindhi, Baloch, Punjabi, or Pashtun; we are all Pakistanis. A misguided group cannot be allowed to impose its values on our country.”
