KIA’s updated Carnival multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) is set to launch in December, with bookings now open at Lucky Motor Corporation dealerships.
While the final pricing remains unclear, industry insiders predict an increase over the previous model’s price of approximately Rs16.1 million, with estimates ranging from Rs4-6 lakh to as much as Rs10-15 lakh.
The Carnival, a luxury 11-seater MPV, aims to offer a spacious alternative to traditional SUVs and family cars. Known for its versatility, it appeals to large families, corporate clients, and commercial users. Sara Tariq, Head of Sales at KIA Motors 9th Avenue, describes it as “the only 11-seater luxury car,” designed for consumers seeking comfort and space.
Expected features include advanced safety options, seven airbags, a dual sunroof, and high-tech infotainment systems, all carried over from the previous model. As a Completely Built Unit (CBU) imported from South Korea, pricing will be influenced by the dollar exchange rate and import duties.
Buyers will also face a withholding tax upon registration, with filers paying 12 per cent and non-filers facing a hefty 36 per cent. The facelift arrives amid high petrol prices, complicating the financial considerations for prospective buyers.
Despite a challenging sales year—KIA experienced a 53 per cent decline—interest in the new model is evident, with three orders placed at the 9th Avenue dealership. However, confusion remains among customers regarding pricing and availability at other dealerships.
