MUZAFFARABAD: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control are observing the Right to Self-Determination Day today with the pledge to continue their struggle till the achievement of their internationally acknowledged inalienable right.
Every year, on the 5th of January, Kashmiris all around the world observe the Right to Self-Determination Day with the pledge to continue their liberation struggle till it reaches its logical conclusion.
On this day in 1949, the United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan (UNCIP) adopted a unanimous resolution granting the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people to decide their future through a free and impartial plebiscite under the United Nations.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the day will mark various events including protest rallies, seminars, and conferences being held worldwide to remind the UN of its responsibility to implement its resolutions and end India’s decade-long oppression.
Kashmiris every year observe this day all over the world to remind the United Nations that it must implement its relevant resolutions to settle the Kashmir dispute to save the Kashmiris from Indian brutalities.
In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, a special session of the AJK Legislative Assembly will be held today to highlight the plights of the Kashmiris of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
