Karachi woman offers Umrah with stolen money

Karachi: A woman stole 20 tolas of gold from her neighbour’s house and performed Umrah.

According to the police, in the Baghdadi area of Lyari, a woman stole 20 tolas of gold from her neighbour’s house, sold it, and used the money to perform Umrah.

Baghdadi Investigation Police arrested the suspect, Shehnaz. Police officials reported that a case of the theft of 20 tolas of gold was registered at the Baghdadi police station on October 27. Following intelligence information, the husband of the woman, Imran, was arrested.

Imran revealed that his wife was the one who committed the theft. During the investigation, police recovered 3 tolas of gold and 1.5 million rupees in cash from Shehnaz.

The police said the theft took place while the neighbour’s family was away. Shehnaz sold 17 tolas of gold and used the money to perform Umrah.

Police are conducting raids for further recoveries and to arrest other accomplices.
