KARACHI: Residents of Karachi are set to experience a water shortage from Thursday due to ongoing development work, according to the Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KWSB).

A KWSB spokesperson warned that water supply issues are expected from May 16 to May 19. The New Pump House at Gharo will be suspended during this period for development work conducted by K-Electric and KWSB.

Residents are advised to store water in their homes ahead of the anticipated shortage. Typically, KWSB supplies 640 million gallons of water per day to the city, but during the development work, the supply will be reduced by approximately 13 million gallons per day.

The spokesperson explained that the work will continue for three days, involving the installation of new electrical equipment and panels at the Gharo pumping station.
