KARACHI: Federal Education Minister Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has announced two new universities for Karachi.

According to media reports, the National Textile University campus will open on December 14, and the National Skills University campus will also be launched later this month.

The reports indicate that Dr Siddiqui also revealed plans for setting up a federal university campus in Mirpurkhas.

The campus, which is expected to start operations by March 2025, will allow students from Sanghar, Umerkot, and Tharparkar districts to utilise it.

“Land acquisition has been an issue; many plots have been left barren for over a decade. Talks with federal bodies are in progress with respect to land issues,” he added.

He reaffirmed his resolve to establish 20 universities across Sindh, earmarked for deprived areas.
