WEB DESK: The Karachi administration has enforced a month-long ban on swimming, bathing, diving, and wading in the sea, effective immediately, due to hazardous conditions caused by high tides and turbulent waves. According to a notification issued by Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi, the ban will be in effect from June 28 to July 27 within Karachi’s territorial limits.

The Karachi sea swimming ban follows a drowning incident reported on June 20, 2024, at Karachi’s Hawks Bay Beach. The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation recommended the ban, highlighting the increased risks posed to beachgoers by the current sea conditions.

Police have been directed to take action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code against anyone found violating the ban imposed under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
