Karachi heatwave claims 17 lives in 36 hours

The severe heatwave in Karachi has resulted in the tragic deaths of at least 17 people within the past 36 hours, with the majority of the victims identified as drug addicts.

The lack of sea breeze has exacerbated the extreme temperatures, creating dire conditions across the city.

In addition, rescue workers have been working tirelessly, transporting bodies from various neighborhoods, including Lyari, Clifton, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Jehanabad, Liaquatabad, Landhi, Lines Area, and Garden. Most of the deceased appeared to be drug addicts, according to rescue sources.

Moreover, among the deceased were Fazal Rahman and Ramesh, both 54 years old, who were identified by the Sindh Health Department.

Additionally, 49 individuals have been severely affected by the extreme temperatures, with 22 admitted to Civil Hospital and Liaquatabad Government Hospital due to heat-related issues.
