KARACHI: Additional Inspector General of Police issued an urgent threat alert on November 20, warning that the militant group Hizb-ul-Islam (HIA) may target the city through food delivery services like Food Panda and courier riders.

The areas surrounding the Expo Center are particularly vulnerable to these threats.

In light of the current law and order situation, which is exacerbated by threats from anti-state elements, the AIG has instructed law enforcement agencies to conduct thorough searches of items being carried by food and courier delivery personnel. These preventive measures aim to increase vigilance in the area to prevent any untoward incidents.

Police forces have been directed to be extra cautious and ensure that food and courier riders are carefully monitored, with heightened scrutiny on the items being delivered.

Authorities are highlighting the importance of maintaining heightened security protocols in order to avert any potential terrorist activities.

The police are working closely with local law enforcement to ensure the safety of both the public and the security personnel assigned to these high-risk zones.
