Senior journalist Tariq Chaudhry has raised concerns over the luxurious facilities allegedly provided to former Prime Minister Imran Khan during his imprisonment.

In a recent discussion on a digital platform, Chaudhry highlighted the disparity between the conditions Imran Khan is experiencing in jail and the hardships faced by the common people, remarking that “an ordinary person cannot enjoy such amenities in their lifetime.”

Chaudhry stated that rumors had been circulating about Khan’s difficult conditions in prison, with claims of his electricity and gas being cut off and allegations of severe mistreatment.

However, during a 45-minute meeting with his delegation, Imran Khan reportedly spent 40 minutes voicing complaints about minor grievances, including not receiving a newspaper and the lack of public protests in his support.

According to Chaudhry, the Superintendent of Adiala Jail later released a list of privileges enjoyed by Imran Khan, revealing that he has access to massages with coconut oil, a service that many people cannot afford even for food. Furthermore, Khan has a dedicated cell for massages, a reading room, and a workout space, and is provided with beetroot juice.

Chaudhry pointed out the stark contrast between Imran Khan’s jail experience and the struggles of ordinary prisoners, noting that some inmates have to sell their properties just to send basic food items like chickpeas and bread. Official documents indicate that over a thousand people have met with Imran Khan during his time in custody.
