Official response
In response to the jirga’s decision, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sukkur has taken notice of the fine imposed on the police officers. The SSP has raised concerns about the legality of the jirga, stating that it is the department’s standard procedure to conduct an official inquiry into such incidents.
The SSP underscored that the imposition of fines by a jirga is illegal and affirmed that a case will be filed against the organisers of the jirga in accordance with the law.
