JCP approves 10 judges for Peshawar High Court

ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP), led by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, approved 10 additional judges for the Peshawar High Court (PHC).

Media reported that the agenda listed nine judges, but the commission approved 10.

The commission selected two district and session judges and eight lawyers.

District judges Farah Jamshed and Inamullah will join the high court, media reports say.

he approved lawyers include Qazi Jawad, Mudassar Ameer, Abdul Fayyaz, Salahuddin, Sadiq Ali, Tariq Afridi, Sabit Ali, and Aurangzeb Khan.

The Chief Justice of the PHC had requested 10 appointments. Three commission members opposed the 10th judge’s approval, sources said.

Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Senator Barrister Ali Zafar and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) law minister opposed the appointment of 10th additional judge.
