To control the smog and reduce its harmful effects, the Punjab government, along with experts associated with the research and development of the Pakistan Army, Pakistan Army Aviation, the Metrological Department, and the Environment Protection Agency conducted experimental rain on Friday.
The artificial rain poured on the Pothwar region including Fateh Jang, Chakwal, Gujar Khan, Jhelum and Central Punjab areas (Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nankana Sahib, Jaranwala, Lahore, Gujranwala, and Gujrat) conducted experiments to make artificial rain today.

Researchers have successfully tested a chemical composition for artificial rain, leveraging insights provided by the Metrological department. The innovative mixture was strategically dispersed into various clouds at different altitudes using advanced instrumentation.
The results have demonstrated notable effects on cloud formation and variability, with clear observations of changes in weather conditions. Within 12 hours of application, the experiments have led to a reduction in rain suppression and smog in targeted areas, marking a significant milestone in atmospheric intervention research.
