Attendees of the Muharram 9 procession in Islamabad can expect a secure and orderly experience, facilitated by a detailed operational plan crafted by the Islamabad Police. Here are the essential details:
Following the directives of DIG Islamabad Syed Ali Raza and Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Muhammad Sarfraz Virk, a security plan is in place to ensure a peaceful procession.
Traffic tweaks:
To make way for the procession, several roads will be closed or experience diversions. Here’s how to navigate:
-
- Fazal Haq Road (Polyclinic to Kulsoom Plaza): Closed. Use Jinnah Avenue (Kulsoom Plaza to China Chowk) instead.
- 7th Avenue (Daman Koh Chowk to Chand Tara Chowk Blue Area & 7th Avenue Chowk to Suhrawardy): Closed on both sides. Opt for Urban Alternate Road, Jinnah Avenue, Suhrawardy Road, or Margalla Road.
- Saddar Road (Iqbal Hall to Melody Chowk): Closed on both sides. Take Abpara Suhrawardy Road as an alternative.
- Municipal Road (Lal Masjid to Shuhada Chowk & GPO Chowk): Closed on both sides. Use Shaheed Millat Road instead.
- Luqman Hakeem Road (Polyclinic to Iqbal Hall): Closed. Jinnah Avenue is your best bet.
