RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday declared that he has a “last card” that he plans to use at the right moment.
This claim came after a family visit by his sister, Aleema Khan, who shared details with the media outside Adiala Jail.
Aleema Khan revealed that Imran Khan was deeply shocked upon learning about the events that transpired on the night of November 26 during the PTI protest.
Khan was kept isolated for 40-50 hours, on November 24, with no access to newspapers or television. On Monday after meeting with his lawyers and journalists at Adiala Jail was he informed about everything, including the D-Chowk incident.
Imran Khan has instructed his team to file the first FIR against Punjab caretaker Chief Minister (CM) Mohsin Naqvi and Prime Minister (PM) Shahbaz Sharif. He has likened the D-Chowk tragedy to being worse than the Lal Masjid incident and called for justice on both local and international platforms.
According to Aleema, Khan stressed the need to ensure accountability and prevent such tragedies from recurring.
Aleema Khan also spoke about PTI leadership during the protest, highlighting that Bushra Bibi, Khan’s wife, took the lead in managing the situation. She expressed regret over her inability to prevent the violence and emphasised that other PTI leaders should have stepped forward during the crisis.
Responding to rumours about Imran Khan’s health, Aleema confirmed that he is in good health despite his detention. She also reassured the families of detainees and victims, stating that efforts are underway to account for the missing and injured individuals.
Imran Khan has vowed to take the D-Chowk incident to the Supreme Court and international forums. He believes raising awareness globally will pressure authorities to ensure justice for the victims of the tragedy.
