ISLAMABAD: ISLAMABAD: Former premier and founding chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has approached the Lahore High Court for bail in 8 cases of May 9. The petition has been filed that the Lahore High Court should grant bail in 8 cases and order his release.

The PTI founder has filed a bail application in other cases including the Jinnah House attack case.

In the plea, Imran Khan’s counsel has taken the stand that his client was in the custody of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Islamabad on May 9.

The petition filed in the High Court has said that he has been named in the cases of conspiracy for political revenge. His lawyer has taken the stand that Imran Khan has been facing cases for 2 years. He termed the cases politically motivated.

Earlier, the Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) had rejected 8 bail applications of the PTI founder.

A total of 12 cases of May 9 have been registered against the PTI founder in Lahore, out of which bail has been granted in 4 cases.

It may be recalled that after Imran Khan’s arrest from the premises of the Islamabad High Court in the Al-Qadir Trust case on May 9, 2023, supporters and workers of the PTI took to the streets across the country and attacked military and government installations.

The protesters also stormed the residence of the Corps Commander in Lahore, also known as Jinnah House, and broke a gate of the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

Later, law enforcement agencies took more than 1900 people in custody for their involvement in attacks on military installations, vandalism and arson with law across the country. Several cases were also registered against Imran Khan, PTI leadership and workers.
