ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) to reconduct the MDCAT within two weeks.
The court remarks came during the hearing of a case filed by the SZAMBU against a single bench decision regarding the retake of the MDCAT in Islamabad. A division bench comprising IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz presided over the hearing.
The judges remarked that children’s futures must be safeguarded and emphasized the importance of ensuring fairness in the examination process.
Pakistan Medical and Dental Council’s (PMDC) lawyer told the court that the earlier exam had not been annulled by the single bench, which had merely granted students another opportunity.
The petitioner’s lawyer informed the court that every student was awarded six grace marks. “The single bench had directed PMDC to review the results and upload the questionnaire and results on the website, which has been done,” the university’s counsel assured the court.
Earlier, sources said that the MDCAT 2024 retake will be conducted once again in Islamabad on December 22. PMDC has been informed about the updated MDCAT 2024 schedule.
Decisions regarding the roll numbers of candidates and examination centers are expected to be made next week, sources added.
