The Higher Education Commission (HEC) plans to hire individuals with master’s degrees as College Teacher Interns (CTIs) instead of recruiting regular lecturers, according to a report released on Wednesday.

A summary for approval has been submitted, outlining the appointment of CTIs for an eight-month period. The interns will be paid a monthly stipend of Rs50,000, with the recruitment process expected to commence next month.

However, the decision not to hire regular lecturers through the Public Service Commission may pose difficulties for many unemployed master’s degree holders seeking permanent positions.
