Govt initiates firing of daily wage workers

The federal government has officially commenced the termination of daily wage employees as part of its rightsizing strategy to enhance operational efficiency.

A notification from the Establishment Division confirmed that effective September 30, 2024, the services of daily wage workers have been transferred to a surplus pool, signaling the start of a broader workforce reduction effort.

This decision aligns with the government’s long-term goal of streamlining operations by downsizing staff across various ministries and divisions.

The Ministry of Finance has indicated that the plan will be uniformly enforced across the federal government, with similar notifications expected from other ministries.

While the move is aimed at cutting costs and improving performance, it is expected to impact a significant number of daily wage workers across multiple sectors. The rightsizing policy reflects the government’s response to financial challenges, as it seeks to restructure its workforce for greater efficiency.
