KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has ruled that gifts given by a husband to his wife at the time of marriage or before separation cannot be rescinded.

In a recent hearing, the court addressed a petition concerning the return of gifts presented to the wife either during the marriage or before separation. The case involved Arshad Jameel, who sought to overturn a trial court’s decision regarding the matter.

The court dismissed Jameel’s plea and issued a detailed judgment, stating that gifts given to the wife at the time of marriage or before separation become her personal property and cannot be reclaimed by the husband. This ruling reinforces the irrevocability of such gifts, establishing them as the wife’s sole possession during the marriage.
