The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development has inaugurated the Pakistani-German Facilitation & Reintegration Centre (PGFRC) in Lahore, with an advisory desk set up at the Overseas Pakistani Foundation (OPF) head office in Islamabad.

The initiative aims to support the reintegration of returning overseas Pakistanis by enhancing their skills and helping them integrate into the country’s social and economic landscape for productive employment.

An official source highlighted that the centre is being implemented in collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, with backing from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The initiative seeks to foster the development of skills and job opportunities, ultimately contributing to Pakistan’s economic growth.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the GIZ GmbH and the Overseas Pakistani Foundation, under the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, to provide technical assistance to the facilitation and reintegration centre. This agreement underscores both nations’ commitment to enhancing the employability of Pakistani workers.

The PGFRC offers a range of services, including vocational training, advice on job market trends, and guidance on securing employment in Pakistan. Additionally, the centre supports entrepreneurship and start-up ventures, offers psychosocial counselling, and provides information on the country’s healthcare system. Furthermore, it facilitates access to microfinance and loan opportunities, empowering returning workers to establish a stable livelihood.
