However, he has firmly denied any involvement or assistance from General Faiz in the process, despite the former spy chief now facing a military trial over allegations of political interference and financial corruption.
Sources close to Warraich reached out to The News after the publication of a story titled “Faiz’s trusted man leaves Pakistan as troubles mount.” They emphasised that while Warraich is currently abroad for business purposes, he did not flee Pakistan, having remained in the country until June of this year. Rumors had circulated for months that General Faiz might be questioned over his actions during and after his tenure, but few anticipated the military would take such decisive action against him.
Furthermore, the sources dismissed reports suggesting Warraich was involved in any dealings on behalf of General Faiz, calling them baseless and misleading. They clarified that Warraich’s connections within the military stem from his upbringing, as his father, Major (retd) Habib Ullah Warraich, was an ex-army officer and former federal defense production minister.
The sources stressed that Mohsin had no involvement with military departments, defense deals, or any introduction through General Faiz.
Warraich’s connection to the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scandal, which involved over two billion rupees, was also addressed. The sources denied any facilitation by General Faiz or others, instead pointing to Justice (retd) Saqib Nisar’s actions against NICL and Warraich.

Regarding the Sputnik deal, the sources claimed that Warraich secured 600 million vaccines for Pakistan and suggested he deserved a national award for his efforts. They asserted that he was brought into the deal by the state to save costs, adding that the high pricing of Sputnik vaccines in Pakistan remains an unresolved issue that should be investigated.
The News had previously reported that Warraich, described as a close confidant of General Faiz, had allegedly left Pakistan to evade an investigation related to the military trial of the former general. Warraich had previously lived in exile in London following the NICL scandal but returned to Pakistan after General Faiz guaranteed his safety and protection from legal proceedings.
Warraich’s relationship with thre former Spy Chief reportedly deepened during their time in London, where they became close due to family connections. General Faiz, who led the ISI during Imran Khan’s administration from 2019 to 2021, was said to have used his significant influence within the military for personal and associates’ benefit, though he has denied any wrongdoing.
General Faiz is currently in custody, and his side of the story has not been publicly disclosed.
