RAWALPINDI: The funeral prayer of Major Muhammad Owais Shaheed, who lost his life while fighting bravely against terrorists in North Waziristan, was offered in Miran Shah.

The Inter-Services Public Relation Officer (ISPR) said in a statement that the funeral prayers were attended by senior Pakistan Army officials, soldiers, the martyrs’ family members, and a large number of local dignitaries.

The bodies of the martyrs will be sent to their native district Narowal for burial with full military honors.

The great sacrifices of our martyrs further strengthen our resolve.

He was martyred during a gun battle with terrorists in North Waziristan on Thursday.

Yesterday, Pakistan Amry said it killed 13 Khwarij [terrorists] in three separate encounters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.

According to the ISPR, the security personnel conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the general area Jani Khel of Bannu District on December 25-26, 2024. The exchange of fire resulted in the killing of two terrorists.

In another intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan District, five Khwarij were effectively eliminated. The ISPR added that eight terrorists were also injured in the operation.

However, during the exchange of fire, Major Muhammad Awais, 31, a resident of District Narowal, “who was leading his troops from the front, having fought gallantly, paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced martyrdom.”

The Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry will hold an important press conference at 3pm today on internal security and counter-terrorism measures and other issues.
