Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline for filing income tax returns for the fiscal year 2024, granting taxpayers until October 14, 2024, to submit their returns.

The decision, made under Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001, was formalised in an official notification issued by the tax authority on Monday.

According to the FBR, the extension was granted in response to numerous requests from various trade organisations, tax bar associations, and the general public, all of whom sought additional time to comply with filing requirements.
