The Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) delegation met with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Vice President, Senator Sherry Rehman, to discuss the establishment of a Federal Constitutional Court.
Both parties expressed their support for the creation of this court in principle, aiming for transparency and consensus.
According to a Dawn News report, FAFEN’s National Coordinator Rashid Chaudhry, along with Salahuddin and Jubilee Bano, participated in the meeting. Senator Rehman briefed the delegation on the PPP’s draft proposal for the court, while FAFEN presented its suggestions.
Senator Sherry Rehman highlighted the need for the 26th Constitutional Amendment to be as transparent and consensual as the 18th Amendment.
She highlighted the guidance of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to involve civil society in extensive consultations. The objective, she noted, is to ensure that all stakeholders are consulted regarding the establishment of the Federal Constitutional Court.
