RAWALPINDI: Army Chief General Asim Munir visited Balochistan where he was given a comprehensive briefing on the security situation in the province. Senior military and intelligence officials also attended the briefing.
According to the Public Relations Department (ISPR), the Army Chief, Governor and Chief Minister of Balochistan attended the funeral prayers of security personnel martyred in a terrorist attack in Kalat district of the province. Army Chief also visited the Combined Military Hospital in Quetta and met with injured troops.
‘Army Chief General Asim Munir visited the soldiers injured in the operation against terrorists in the Mangochar area of Kalat,’ read the statement.
According to the ISPR, ‘on the night of January 31 and February 1, terrorists tried to block a road in the Mangochar area of Kalat district of Balochistan.’
‘Security forces and law enforcement agencies were immediately mobilized, which ensured the safety of the local population and killed 12 terrorists during the operation.’
The army’s public relations department further said in a statement that ‘18 soldiers were martyred during the operation.’
On the occasion of his visit to Balochistan, Army Chief General Asim Munir said, ‘We are aware of those who are instrumentalities of foreign masters and are involved in terrorism.’
‘These elements have adopted double standards by dressing up in hypocrisy. Wherever these people are, we will pursue them and defeat them with the steadfastness of the nation and the armed forces.’
He added that “to defend the motherland and protect the people, we will definitely track down the terrorists and bring them to justice.”
“No matter what these so called “frenemies” may do, you will surely be defeated by the resilience of our proud nation and its Armed Forces Inshallah,” said Army Chief.
