PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has launched the ‘Ehsaas Apna Ghar Scheme’, which provides interest-free loans to low-income individuals for housing purposes.
According to the scheme, families with low incomes will receive loans of up to Rs 1.5 million for constructing a new house or expanding/renovating an existing one.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Housing Department and the Bank of Khyber to facilitate the execution of the Ehsaas Apna Ghar Scheme.
The ceremony was chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and attended by cabinet members Dr. Amjad Ali Khan and Muzammil Aslam, along with officials from the relevant departments and the Bank of Khyber.
The program, with an allocation of Rs4 billion, will offer financial support with a straightforward repayment plan over seven years. The beneficiaries are required to pay a maximum monthly installment of Rs 18,000, ensuring the loans remain affordable.
To be eligible for the loan, individuals must own land.
Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, while addressing the ceremony, stated that providing quality housing facilities to the people is one of the current provincial government’s priorities. The launch of the Ehsaas Apna Ghar Scheme is an important part of this effort. He mentioned that the scheme is another welfare initiative by the provincial government.
