It is pertinent to note that the former Commissioner Rawalpindi Liaquat Ali had tendered his resignation from the position, citing serious irregularities during the elections.
In an earlier development in February, during a statement recorded before an ECP committee, former commissioner Chatha expressed remorse over his earlier allegations of electoral manipulation, acknowledging that they were misleading. He further revealed that he had made these claims under the influence of a political party.
