RAWALPINDI: ISLAMABAD: General Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People’s Republic of China, called on General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan, on Wednesday, a military statement said.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Zhang, accompanied by a high-level delegation, visited the General Headquarters (GHQ) for the meeting.
During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security dynamics, and enhancing bilateral defence cooperation.
During the talks, General Asim Munir emphasised the long-standing and all-weather nature of Pakistan-China relations, highlighting their foundation of mutual trust and cooperation. He reaffirmed that this historic partnership has withstood the test of time and is poised for further growth.
The COAS expressed gratitude to the Chinese leadership for their unwavering support to Pakistan, irrespective of shifts in the international and regional landscape.
General Zhang expressed China’s deep appreciation for Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to the strategic partnership. He commended the professionalism and resolve of the Pakistan Army in its counter-terrorism efforts and reiterated China’s commitment to further strengthening this enduring relationship.
Upon his arrival at GHQ, General Zhang laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada to pay tribute to Pakistan’s martyrs.
He was given a warm reception, including a guard of honor presented by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army.
