ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi has also supported the transfer of judges and said that the judges who came to the Islamabad High Court should be encouraged.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi was the special guest at the swearing-in ceremony of the Press Association. On this occasion, he said that he wanted to talk about the transfer of judges of the Islamabad High Court. Islamabad is a symbol of federation.

The Chief Justice said that why did I agree to the transfer of judges, the transfer was under the constitution. A Balochi-speaking judge came, and a Sindhi-speaking judge came. The federation belongs to the entire country. It is a good initiative under Article 200. More judges should also come from other provinces.

Justice Yahya Afridi said that the issue of the transfer of judges of the Islamabad High Court should not be mixed. Appointment and transfer of judges are two separate issues. Judges from other provinces should also get a fair chance. The Islamabad High Court does not belong to any one particular judge but to the whole of Pakistan. This move should be appreciated by the judges.

The Chief Justice said that the Islamabad High Court did not appoint the one who came, they are already judges of the High Court. As the Chief Justice of Pakistan, the vision should be big. “I am hearing 30 to 40 cases every day. The backlog of pending cases in the Supreme Court should be eliminated. We need more judges in the Supreme Court,” he said.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi said that every judge is independent and empowered. The entire load falls on three or four judges. “I make decisions only after seeing the constitutional mandate I have received. Wherever I feel that I have any interest, I immediately separate myself from the matter,” he said.

He said that he meets the judges to address their concerns. This matter will also end soon. May Allah Almighty bless this matter as well. It will definitely take some time but he will continue my efforts.
