In the wake of the new fiscal year’s budget approval, cement prices have increase across Pakistan. Official documents reveal that the price of a 50 kg bag of cement increased by up to 207 rupees in just one week.
The increase has brought the price of a 50 kg bag of cement to 1500 rupees.The highest price increases were recorded in Larkana and Peshawar, where a 50 kg bag rose by 207 and 177 rupees, respectively.

The documents detailed the price hikes in other cities as follows:
- In Bannu, the price increased by 163 rupees.
- In Quetta and Sargodha, the price rose by 160 rupees.
- In Multan, the price increased by 155 rupees.
- In Islamabad, the price saw a rise of 151 rupees.
- In Karachi and Lahore, the price per bag increased by 150 rupees.
- In Gujranwala, the increase was 147 rupees.
- In Faisalabad, the price went up by 140 rupees.
- In Sialkot, the price increased by 130 rupees and again by 120 rupees in another report.
- In Rawalpindi, the increase was 107 rupees.
- In Khuzdar, the price rose by 23 rupees per bag.
The reason behind this increase is the excise duty on cement, which has been raised from 3 rupees to 4 rupees per kilogram. This hike is expected to impact construction and development projects across the country.
