WEBDESK: Ali Khan Tareen and Fiza Hussain, the founder and co-founder of Khaas Food, appeared in Shark Tank Episode 8 and secured Rs5 million on grant after initially pitching for Rs10 million for 33 per cent equity.
Both Ali Khan Tareen and Fiza Hussain are blind siblings and equal shareholders of Khaas Food, operating their business from home in Karachi. They collaborate with different companies and universities, primarily working B2B (business to business). Their team comprises a total of 10 people, including artists, chefs, and technical staff.
Khaas Food pitch
Ali Khan Tareen and Fiza Hussain explained that Khaas Food operates in three ways: first, through “Dining in the Dark,” where individuals are blindfolded and served food prepared by blind chefs; second, by offering catering services; and third, by training and empowering blind individuals.
They have generated a revenue of 10 lacs from “Dining in the Dark” and 50 lacs from catering services, bringing their total revenue to 60 lacs to date.
The sharks were impressed by the pitch, with each granting 1 million, making a total of 5 million. Additionally, Junaid Iqbal offered to introduce Khaas Food to 25 companies and a one-year contract facilitated by Kareem Teli.
The sharks gave a standing ovation to the pitch and applauded their courage.
