KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has slammed the ruling coalition partner PML-N for “not fulfilling its promise” regarding the constitution of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP).
In an informal talk with journalists in Karachi, the former foreign minister said that he opted to withdraw from JCP in protest as the incumbent PM-N government failed to ensure equal representation in the top judicial body.
PPP parliamentarian leader said the government has failed to maintain a good relationship with the United States after a few ministers became concerned over Republican candidate Donald Trump’s victory in the US elections.
The government is misleading the people about 4G internet services and blocking virtual private networks (VPNs), he said, adding that the government has deviated from commitments made to the PPP during constitutional discussions.
Bhutto also gave an update on his father’s health saying that President Asif Ali Zardari’s condition is improving after suffering four fractures in his foot. Earlier this month, President Zardari fractured his foot while deboarding an airplane upon his arrival at the Dubai International Airport.
The PPP chairman also accused the PML-N govt of violating agreements with the PPP, particularly regarding the Public Sector Development Programme’s preparation through consultation.
He noted his involvement in the 26th Constitutional Amendment while the government approved new canals behind their backs, stating that the PPP does not agree with new canals.
