ISLAMABAD: PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday expressed deep concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Kurram District.

The bloodshed in the tribal area adjacent to Afghanistan started on Thursday when gunmen ambushed a convoy killing 41 people in the process.

Bilawal has demanded a complete report on the situation from the KP Governor, stating that the region is ‘burning in the flames of unrest’ while the government does not even exist at the provincial level.

In a statement, Bilawal mentioned that 80 civilians have been killed in these three days, and now not even a promise could be made of the security of houses.

“The maintenance of law and order is the foremost responsibility of the provincial government.

The loss of lives has left this nation mourning, and we cannot allow Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to burn in unrest,” he added further.

Earlier on Saturday, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur chaired a meeting via video link to discuss the situation in Kurram.

“The provincial government is making serious efforts for a peaceful and sustainable resolution of the Kurram conflict,” he said adding a ceasefire in the area is essential to move toward resolving the conflict.
